2011 PF Jacob Lawson Heading to Purdue

Posted by CoHoops Paul Seaver

Oak Ridge, North Carolina native Jacob Lawson has given his verbal commitment to the Purdue Boilermakers.

The 6-foot-6 member of the Oak Ridge Military Academy is an athletic power forward that should instantly give Purdue head coach Matt Painter an athletic addition to the front court in 2011.

Rated as the 29th best power forward in the class by scout.com, Lawson is a quick forward who looks to get above the rim and run out in transition, something that should benefit Purdue against the more slowed down defenses in the Big Ten.

Lawson narrowed his decision down to the likes of Seton Hall, Maryland, Mississippi, West Virginia, Colorado, and Alabama before ultimately deciding to join the Boilermakers.

With the addition of Lawson, Matt Painter now has the likes of him and Donnie Hale on board for 2011.

Purdue brings back a plethora of bodies for 2010-2011 which should once again have them amongst the Top 5 in the nation for the beginning of the season.

Lawson's aggressive and rebounding abilities should allow Purdue to move forward in 2011 as they will have to replace the likes of seniors-to-be Robbie Hummel and JaJuan Johnson when the time comes.
