2011 Recruits Pollard, Gore Both Headed to New England

A pair of New England area schools have scored recruits from the class of 2011. Both Northeastern and Brown picked up the commitments of two guards outside their home regions.

Brown, a member of the Ivy League, earned the verbal consent of Texas guard Christian Gore. Gore, a 6-foot-2 El Paso native joins Joe Sharkey in the class.

After an 11-20 season overall a season ago, in an Ivy League dominated by Cornell the past three years, the Bears have added Gore who has a knack for scoring the basketball.

With great athleticism, Gore has the ability to get off his jump shot without needing much space, as well as, get out on the break and finish.

The Northeastern Huskies, a member of the CAA, also picked up a verbal commitment for 2011 with guard Demetrius Pollard.

Pollard, a 6-foot-2 guard in his own right, is a Virginia native who will head north up the east coast to Boston, Massachusetts for his collegiate career. He also considered Jacksonville before settling with the Huskies.

Head coach Bill Coen notched his first 20 win season at Northeastern last year, after fighting atop the crowded CAA for a while before fading and ultimately landing in the NIT.

Pollard becomes the first member of Coen's class of 2011.
