Trey Lyles to Kentucky

On his birthday, Trey Lyles held a press conference and announced his commitment to Kentucky.

On ESPNU, Lyles announced with a big pause that he would be attending the University of Kentucky.

The five-star ranked forward by Rivals is the fourth commitment for Kentucky in 2014. He joins fellow five-star Karl Towns (Metuchen, NJ), four-star point guard Tyler Ulis (Chicago Heights, IL) and Devin Booker (Moss Point, MS).

Lyles expects to be a one-and-done player, and chose Kentucky "because of Coach [John] Cal's track record with players."

Rathan-Mayes to FSU

Xavier Rathan-Mayes keeps the family tradition alive. The 6-3 shooting guard from Canada followed in his fathers footsteps and will play his college basketball for Florida State.

He chose Florida State over UConn and Illinois, who were his other finalist.

Rivals four-star shooting guard is the first commit for head coach Leonard Hamilton in the 2013 class and a big one.

Rathan-Mayes is known for his big-time scoring ability. He adds plenty of scoring off the ball for Florida State and is a huge pickup for the Seminoles basketball program.

It should also be noted that Rathan-Mayes is the teammate of 2014 stud Andrew Wiggins, who Florida State is also pushing hard to acquire because of his family connection to the program and his obvious basketball talents. It should be interesting to see just how much this decision impacts Wiggins, who most believe favor Kentucky and Florida State.

Nonetheless, great scoring addition for Florida State, who picked up one of the best off-ball scoters available in the country.

Harrison Twins Announce for Kentucky

The No. 1 point guard and No. 2 shooting guard in the country, according to ESPN are heading to the same school.

Aaron and Andrew Harrison announced on ESPN Recruiting Nation that they will both be attending Kentucky.

They chose UK over SMU and Maryland.

Nebraska Forward Commits to Louisville

Rick Pitino is putting together another talented recruiting class.

His 2013 recruiting class already features Rivals four-star point guard Terry Rozier, a former 2012 pledge, that prepped at Hargrave Military Academy (VA) this season.

Ravenscroft (NC) shooting guard Anton Gill and Northwest Florida State College (FL) point guard Chris Jones, two Rivals four-star guards, are committed to Pitino in 2013, as well.

Catching Up on Recent Commitments

There has been a lot of recruiting buzz lately. A lot of official visits have been taken and a lot of commitments have come as an effect.

London Perrantes recently popped for Virginia. Perrantes, a 2013 6-foot point guard adds great depth for the Cavaliers and brings a high basketball IQ.

Joining him in the state is 2013 post-graduate center Trevor Thompson, who picked Virginia Tech over offers from Arizona State, Mississippi State, Auburn and USC.

Wells Headed to Maryland

Dezmine Wells, a 6-5 guard from Raleigh, North Carolina that attended Hargrave Military Academy (VA), expects to enroll at Maryland following his expulsion from Xavier.

Wells was expelled from the University amid sexual assault allegations that were later not pursued.

London Perrantes Is Virginia Bound

This past weekend, a lot of college basketball programs welcomed in 2013 prospects.

6-foot point guard London Perrantes of Crespi (CA) was on an official visit to Virginia, along with Cheddi Mosley and Alex Robinson. Following his official, Perrantes sent out a tweet that ended his recruitment.

Jordan Woodard Headed to the Big 12

It's been a long recruiting process for Edmond Memorial (OK) point guard Jordan Woodard. The 6-foot guard has seen the likes of Kansas, Florida State, Missouri and Oklahoma State, among others recruiting him but it came down to three schools.

Oklahoma, Memphis and Stanford were the three schools he selected from and just about everybody expected the home team Sooners to pick up the talented 2013 guard.

The Sooners have been the most consistent program recruiting Woodard and Oklahoma did have the homefield advantage. However, Stanford and Memphis both offer the chance to contribute to a great basketball program as well.

USC Adds Connecticut Guard

In May, Capital Prep (CT) point guard Kahlil Dukes announced that Lehigh and Southern California would be in his top five when he decided to put together his list.

Robert Upshaw to Fresno State

7-foot Robert Upshaw (San Joaquin, CA) committed to Kansas State originally over offers from Georgetown, Fresno State and Louisville.

He was set on attending Kansas State, who was coming off a third round apperance in the NCAA tournament until Frank Martin decided to bolt for the South Carolina opening.

Soon after, Upshaw re-opened his recruitment and eliminated both Kansas State and South Carolina as options.

It didn't take long after the decommit for Upshaw to surprise a local school and sign where he was wanted.

Nerlens Noel Commits to Kentucky

Nerlens Noel, the No.1 rated prospect in 2012 by ESPN and No. 2 by Rivals, announced his commitment to Kentucky on ESPNU's Signing Day Special.

Noel, who many considered to be committing to Georgetown, decided to step in for future No. 1 overall NBA draft pick Anthony Davis, although he has yet to announce for the NBA draft yet.

"I thought it was the best fit for me," Noel said.

Noel joins, the newly-rated No. 1 rated recruiting class by ESPN, that features two McDonald's All Americans in shooting guard Archie Goodwin, power forward Alex Poythress, four-star center Willie Cauley and North Carolina State transfer Ryan Harrow.

Shabazz Muhammad Commits to UCLA

Many sources indicated before his much anticipated decision that Shabazz Muhammad, (Bishop Gorman, NV) the No. 1 rated player by Rivals and No. 2 by ESPN, committed to UCLA.

Muhammad, who's always had a strong UCLA lean, made his final decision public when he announced for Ben Howland's Bruins on ESPNU's Signing Day Special.

"I chose to be a Bruin," he said when announcing his college decision.

Muhammad joins, my No. 1 player in the 2012 class, Kyle Anderson, a 6-9 point guard from St. Anthony in New Jersey as well as Jordan Adams of Oak Hill Academy.

DeMarcus Holland to Texas

Rivals three-star shooting guard DeMarcus Holland (Naaman Forest HS, TX) finalized his college decision. The former South Florida commit decided to stay local and commit to the Texas Longhorns while on an official visit per sources.

Holland is a great scoring guard with the ability to play both positions in the backcourt. This season as a senior, Holland elevated his stock with his play and showed some great upside at the lead guard position.

Aquille Carr Picks Seton Hall

One of the nations most hyped point guards regardless of class has picked a school. The 5-8, 140-pound Aquille Carr (Patterson, MD) decided to end his recruitment with a verbal commitment to Seton Hall.

Scoutfocus.com broke the story saying, "Aquille's prep coach has confirmed the selection of Seton Hall."

Carr selected Seton Hall over offers from Baylor, Connecticut, Loyola Marymount, Memphis, South Florida, Texas and Xavier.

He becomes the first commitment in the 2013 class for the Pirates and a big one. Carr brings so much to the table as a point guard. He has a ton of heart, an ability to take over games, as well as being able to create oppurtunities for his teammates.

Seton Hall has a great one in Carr. He's going to sell tickets, win games and bring some excitement to the Seton Hall basketball program.

Luke Fischer to Indiana

After taking an unofficial visit to Indiana and taking in their upset loss of No. 2 Ohio State, 2013 forward Luke Fischer (Germantown, WI) decided to end his recruitment with a commitment to the Hoosiers.

Fischer is a strong player in the post and should be considered an early steal for Indiana. He still has to continue developing his face-up and jump shot, along with adding weight, which will help his college transition.

He's long, athletic, and energetic and is a great addition for Indiana.

Fischer, a three-star rated prospect by Rivals, held offers from Boston College, Creighton, Dayton, Green Bay, Iowa and Marquette.

He becomes the third Indiana commitment in the 2013 class joining forward Devin Davis and Collin Hartman, two in-state talents.

Kasey Hill Announces for Florida

Kasey Hill (Montverde Academy, FL), a 2013 point guard, ended his recruitment today with a commitment to the Florida Gators and Billy Donavan.

Hill sent out a tweet saying, "I am a GATOR!!!" while many reported he was on an unofficial visit to take in the Florida game against Yale.

It must've went well because it was enough to secure a commitment from one of the top guards in the country, regardless of class.

Hill held other offers from many schools around the country but had a top three of Florida, Louisville and Kentucky. The guard would have fit in either of the systems perfectly but elected to stay home and play for the legendary Billy Donavan.

Hill is the first commitment in the 2013 class for the Gators and certainly not the last.

Hill is one of the more explosive guards in his class that is deadly off his first step. With the success of guards coming through Florida, it will more than likely turn out to be a great fit for both parties.

Shabazz Trims His List

The nations top player, Shabazz Muhammad (Bishop Gorman HS, NV) has trimmed his list again.

Duke, Kansas, UCLA, Kentucky, Arizona and UNLV are the school's he mentioned. But according to other reports, Muhammad's father also reiterating that USC still has a shot at landing the No. 1 overall player in high school basketball.

"I narrowed my list down to like six," Muhammad told FiveStarBasketball.com. "I think it was a good thing for me to narrow it down because a lot of schools were calling that I wasn't really interested in."

Each of the schools that are still in the mix are more than likely going to send a full out blitz to get the nations top ranked senior. There are rumors that Kentucky leads and UCLA is right there but Muhammad never confirms that.

He has committed to signing late and continuously said that he doesn't have any favorites.

Anton Gill to Louisville
Gill, a 2013 6-2 combo-guard, ended his recruitment with a verbal commitment to Louisville. Gill is the No. 43 player in his class according to Rivals.com and No. 48 according to ESPN.

Gill is a nice pickup for the 'Cards and should make an impact immediately. He's a great scorer from the backcourt but has the ability to play the one if he chooses. He gives the 'Cards a solid backcourt presence that they thought they were getting from Rodney Purvis before he decommitted and went on to NC State.

The Ravenscroft school guard pick Louisville over offers from Charlotte, East Carolina, North Carolina Greensboro, North Carolina State, South Carolina and Wake Forest. He is the first commit in Louisville's 2013 class.

Andrew White to Kansas

Andrew White (Miller School, VA) finally made his college decision. Before his game, the 6-6 wing decided to commit to the Kansas Jayhawks over the likes of North Carolina State.

"I think it was a huge opportunity to play there and I have a good relationship with their staff," he told Richmond WWBT.

White is the fifth commitment for Kansas joining five-star recruit Perry Ellis and three-star recruits Landen Lucas, Anrio Adams, and Zach Peters.

This is a great feeling for Kansas fans who haven't seen a class this talented since 2009, where they pulled in Xavier Henry, Thomas Robinson and Elijah Johnson, all four and five-star rated recruits by Rivals.com.

They'll definitely need the extra boost after losing both Tyshawn Taylor to graduation and possibly Thomas Robinson to the NBA draft following the season.

Nate Britt Announces for North Carolina

North Carolina got some good news this evening when point guard Nate Britt of Gonzaga High School in Washington, DC, announced his verbal commitment to the program.

"At the end of the day, North Carolina felt like home to me," Britt told FiveStarBasketball.com.

Britt becomes the second recruit to commit to North Carolina joining 6-8 forward Isaiah Hicks of J.F. Webb in Oxford, North Carolina.

Britt is considered the No. 11 player in his class by Yahoo! Rivals and No. 2 point guard in 2013 by ESPN.

Alex Poythress to Kentucky

When decision day came for 6-8 combo-forward Alex Poythress (Northeast, TN) the 2012 prospect started to field calls and eliminate schools.

He reportedly field calls to his four finalist but only one got good news from the five-star forward. Poythress decided to add himself to the already nice 2012 recruiting class of Kentucky.

He joins shooting guard Archie Goodwin and center Willie Cauley.

Poythress is a forward that is ranked highly by just about every scouting service. His athletic ability is off the charts and coach Calipari is getting an athlete that can get it done at two positions.

UK's top class streak may not be in jeopardy after all. Coach Calipari is in on many other recruits such as Shabazz Muhammad, Anthony Bennett, Jarnell Stokes and Amile Jefferson.
