Aquille Carr Picks Seton Hall

One of the nations most hyped point guards regardless of class has picked a school. The 5-8, 140-pound Aquille Carr (Patterson, MD) decided to end his recruitment with a verbal commitment to Seton Hall.

Scoutfocus.com broke the story saying, "Aquille's prep coach has confirmed the selection of Seton Hall."

Carr selected Seton Hall over offers from Baylor, Connecticut, Loyola Marymount, Memphis, South Florida, Texas and Xavier.

He becomes the first commitment in the 2013 class for the Pirates and a big one. Carr brings so much to the table as a point guard. He has a ton of heart, an ability to take over games, as well as being able to create oppurtunities for his teammates.

Seton Hall has a great one in Carr. He's going to sell tickets, win games and bring some excitement to the Seton Hall basketball program.

With Jeremy Hazell Seton Hall Could Surprise In 2010-11'

When most people think about Seton Hall they remember the run they made in 1989.

It was their first time in the National Championship and they were one-point short.

Last season, Seton Hall surprised us all in the Big East. Not only did they start (8-0) but defeated Cornell, Pittsburgh, Louisville and Notre Dame. Not to mention, they competed with Georgetown, Connecticut, Syracuse, West Virginia and Marquette.

But some believe they had a weak non-conference schedule but they also achieved a (9-9) record in one of the toughest conferences in America.

Now, with Jeremy Hazell and Herb Pope returning for another season of College Basketball, Seton Hall could surprise in the Big East.

They did bring in a decent recruiting class that highlights 6-foot-11 England prospect Aaron Geramipoor.

The losses of John Garcia and Eugene Harvey shouldn't be a huge setback. Jordan Theodore and Ferrakohn Hall will need to step up—which I believe they will.

But, the key to Seton Hall's success lies within Hazell's decision-making.

Last season, Hazell was one of the most prolific scorers in the Big East. He had multiple 30-point games and a 40-point outing.

As the season progressed, Hazell started drawing a lot of double-teams; none of which came with smart decision-making. However, sometimes, he was still allowed to score.

Last season, during a blowout loss to Pitt, Hazell took seven-shots. Five three-pointer and none went in. He ended the game 1-of-7 with two points.

This shows the questionable shot-selection of Hazell. However, if he cleans this up the Pirates can be productive in the Big East.

He is a great shooter. However, if he continues to make poor decisions, Seton Hall will not be invited to the dance in March.

With a decent recruiting class that gives Seton Hall a lot of size on their frontline; a new Hazell that will clean up his shot-selection, the Pirates are my sleeper team in the Big East.

What If Bobby Gonzalez Is Found Not Guilty?

Bobby Gonzalez was the head coach of Seton Hall during the 09-10 season. 

Last year, the Seton Hall Pirates had a very inconsistent season. They were once 8-0 and proving to be a good coach. However, after the loss to Temple the Pirates rebounding problem was more evident.

He led the Pirates to the NIT tournament before losing in a bad manner. Herb Pope threw a low-blow and when Jeremy Hazell isn't firing, the Pirates cannot produce.

That happened in the NIT tournament, things got heated, and a loss occurred. That same month, Bobby Gonzalez was fired as the Head Coach of Seton Hall and their search for a new one began.

Well, earlier this month, Bobby Gonzalez was arrested for shoplifting at a mall. It was reported that he was near a 1,400 dollar satchel.

That was the reported item he was trying to steal and is being charged for that.

Now yesterday Bobby Gonzalez pleads not guilty to the charges facing him. 

What if he really is innocent and it's all speculation, does that help him land another job as a Head Coach?

Well, with the charges that are facing, he will need to be proven not guilty to be considered for another coaching gig. I can't think of any school out there that would bring in a coach that has off-the-court distractions.

If he is proven guilty I believe it will be a lot harder on him than it would be if he was innocent.

Once, IF, he is proven not guilty I don't even think he will be able to land the coaching job he wants. 

He will have to prove that he can be a great coach on-and-off the court. Whether or not he proves his innocence or not, Athletic Directors are going to think twice about having Bobby Gonzalez on staff.

There is no question a coach like Gonzalez has a chance to land another coaching job but it will be hard on him.

Bobby Gonzalez Pleads Not-Guilty To Shoplifting Charge

Early March, Bobby Gonzalez was fired as the head coach of Seton Hall after missing the NCAA tournament. Not to mention, his players did little to help secure his job.

Herb Pope liked throwing low-blows and Jeremy Hazell shot everything he got his hands on.

But not even that can match what has happened as the Ex-Head Coach of Seton Hall.

Earlier this month Seton Hall former Head Coach Bobby Gonzalez was arrested for shoplifting. He was reported to steal a men's satchel worth 1,400 dollars.

“This is a misunderstanding and series of miscommunications,” Gerald Krovatin said. “Bobby did not intend to steal anything.”

Today, the former coach Bobby Gonzalez pleads not-guilty to the charges that are facing him.
