Catching Up on Recent Commitments

There has been a lot of recruiting buzz lately. A lot of official visits have been taken and a lot of commitments have come as an effect.

London Perrantes recently popped for Virginia. Perrantes, a 2013 6-foot point guard adds great depth for the Cavaliers and brings a high basketball IQ.

Joining him in the state is 2013 post-graduate center Trevor Thompson, who picked Virginia Tech over offers from Arizona State, Mississippi State, Auburn and USC.

Xavier transfer Dezmine Wells chose Maryland over scholarship offers from Kentucky, Memphis and Oregon.

Jabari Bird, long consider Cal's to lose, finally chose the program over Washington, who was the only other serious contender. Spencer Weisz, a 6-5 small forward from Seton Hall Prep recently committed to Princeton.

UConn added two New Yorkers in the past few weeks. First, Kentan Facey, a 6-9 forward from Long Island, committed to the school and a few weeks later coach Jim Calhoun adds a pledge from 6-3 point guard Terrence Samuel.

VCU added a commitment from one of the most underrated big men in the country. Antravious Simmons, a 6-9 forward, who held high-major offers, chose to play for Shaka Smart and the Rams.

Akron probably picked up the most impressive commitment. North Carolina prospect BJ Gladden, a 6-5 wing, committed to Akron. The high-flying, electrifying athlete is sure to excite fans at Akron.

Three-star rated recruit Payton Banks of Lutheran High School in Orange, California, committed to Penn State over offers from Colorado, Nevada, USC and Washington State, among others. The talented 6-6 point-forward is versatile and can play up to three positions.

Colorado head coach Tad Boyle continues his recruiting success and his move to the Pac-12 looks like it is paying off. Colorado added Rivals four-star Jaron Hopkins, a 6-5 shooting guard from California. The Buffs' beat out talented offers from programs such as Arizona, Auburn, USC and Washington State.

Three-star Luke Worthington, a 6-8 power forward, committed to BYU early this week over offers from Butler, Davidson, Penn and Princeton.

Damian Jones, one of the most physically gifted basketball players and also equipped with a 4.4 GPA, committed to Vanderbilt following his official visit. The Louisiana product had offers from Alabama, Florida, K-State, LSU, St. John's, Stanford and Texas A&M, among others.
