Last season, the Harvard Crimson embraced a very skilled freshman by the name of Kyle Casey. Casey helped the Crimson to (21-8) and a conference record of (10-4).
With Jeremy Lin graduating, Casey was going to be looked on to lead the offense. However, the reigning Ivy League Freshman of the Year was diagnosed with a metatarsal stress fracture in his foot after injuring himself in pickup basketball.
Casey will undergo surgery to repair his metatarsal but will be sidelined for 6-to-8 weeks. Casey described the situation as "I got the ball and made a hard cut going to the rim. I felt a pop, and I fell."
Casey will miss most of the non-conference slate of games but will be back in time for conference play. Despite the broken foot, I still think Casey is a contender for Ivy League Player of the Year.
Without Casey, junior forward Keith Wright will have to step up and fill the void. Wright was the third leading scorer, and leading rebounder before being bit by the injury bug.
