High Point Scores Brown, Jake White to Wichita State

High Point has added an in-state forward for the class of 2011.

John Brown, a 6-foot-7 small forward has verbally committed to the Panthers, a member of the Big South conference. Brown, a native of Raleigh, North Carolina attends Body of Christ Academy and decided to head to High Point citing the coaching staff as his main reason.

Scott Cherry enters his second season as head coach of the Panthers, who posted a 15-15 record overall last season. Cherry was a member of Dean Smith's North Carolina squad in the early 90's and his connections to the state helped him land Brown.

Fellow mid-major program, Wichita State, a member of the Missouri Valley Conference locked up Minnesota forward Jake White.

White, a double-double machine at Chaska High School in Minnesota, averaged over 20 points and 10 rebounds per contest. He narrowed down his decision to attend Wichita State after interest from Colorado State, Navy, UTEP, and Northern Iowa.

White joins the likes of Tekele Cotton, who verbally committed to the Shockers earlier this week, and Evan Wessel becoming the third recruit for a team that recorded 25 wins overall a season ago.

Wichita State head coach Gregg Marshall was a former coach in the Big South Conference himself, leading the Winthrop Eagles to seven conference tournament championships, before moving onto Wichita State.
