New York Knicks Draft Picks
Andy Rautins 6'5'' Shooting Guard
You seen Rautins playing more of the point guard of this year's Syracuse team. He had a nice stroke on his jump shot and could be aggressive with his attack if needed.
He has good ball-handling skills with the ability to run the point guard position if he wanted to.
He is a pretty good rebounder out of the guard position. He can lead the break and make the smart play.
A real smart kid with a high basketball I.Q.
But the main thing he does so well that nobody gives him credit for is his defense.
In Syracuse zone he averaged two steals per game and always was at the top embarrassing the ball-handler.
Landry Fields 6'7'' Small Forward
Fields is a scorer in every sense of the word. He can score the ball in a lot of ways and has nice touch. He is able to beat you off the dribble or post you up. It's whatever he prefers. He has great ball-handling skills and uses that when driving into the paint.
On defense, he gets into passing lanes and steals the ball. A very smart basketball player and anticipates steals and blocks. Similar to that, he rebounds very well. He is a big time athlete but needs to add bulk and stay consistent with his attack
Analysis:
If the Knicks are not able to acquire LeBron James then they're screwed. They wasted their two draft picks on high volume shooters. Not to mention, they have a lot of cap space with no big time players.
If they don't make a huge splash in the free-agency I don't believe they'll recover from this no time soon.
Draft Grade D+
