Not to long ago, the UCLA family lost hall-of-famer John Wooden.
He is no question the greatest basketball coach in college basketball history, and arguably the best ever.
Now after mourning over the fallen icon, UCLA is going to go-hard next season.
Ask around, UCLA is one of the most storied basketball programs in the nation.
They embraced arguably the greatest coach on their sideline for 12 years. Once he left, the next coach stepped up and kept the tradition alive.
Now it's Ben Howland's turn to bring the Bruins back to superiority.
The Bruins are coming off one of the worst performances in school history.
They finished last season with a combined win total of 14, eight of which came in the Pac-10 conference that was dead last in RPI.
Now if you're not a Bruins fan, if you been paying attention, you can understand just how hard it was for UCLA last year.
If you enter the Pauley Pavilion and look up, you'll see a ton of banners. On those banners are National Championships.
If you look into the Bruins record book, you will see four undefeated seasons, an 88-game win streak, 54 consecutive winning seasons, and 26 Final Fours—to name a few.
If you're a Bruins fan you’re A. smiling, B. cheering, or C. eager for next season. That's because you're use to the rich tradition the Bruins produce year-in and year-out.
I assure you the Bruins are breaking away from last season and focusing on the future.
UCLA lost two of their top scores from last season. The Bruins also lost their young talent Drew Gordon who played six games for UCLA.
But they made up for that with the recruiting class they were able to put together.
They have 6-foot-9 McDonald's All-American Josh Smith to showcase in the frontcourt.
He is a monster and has been nabbed as either the number one or two five-man in the 2010 recruiting class—depending on whom you ask.
Tyler Lamb and Matt Carlino are both great additions to the wing.
To finish it off, Coach Ben Howland acquired the Wear twin's from North Carolina and junior college standout Lazeric Jones.
They certainly have a legit chance to dust off last season and improve their team.
They have an over-achieving recruiting class to go along with their young stars.
Last season was a start to something great with Ben Howland. Now the Bruins brushed themselves off and prepare for next season.
