Either way, Syracuse has stayed competitive because of
it.
Now with such a promising team this year, the Orange will continue
with the success. However, some of the players from next seasons' squad
might forgo another season of College Basketball and turn pro.
So the 2011 recruits are going to be very important. Thus far,
this is how they fared.
Verbal Commitments
G Michael Carter-Williams 6'5''
Carter-Williams is one of the most explosive scorers this
recruiting class has to offer. Just a week ago at the Nike Peach Jam,
Carter-Williams dropped 47 points. Now I'm sure the Orange can't wait to get
him in.
He is 6-foot-5 with the ability to score the basketball from
anywhere on the court.
He has a great mid-range game; not to mention, he stays aggressive
with his offensive attack 100 percent of the time. Carter Williams will be a
great addition on the wing.
In his senior season in high school, I assume he will add a
consistent three-point jumper. That'll make him un-guard-able.
G Trevor Cooney 6'4''
If you want a mature guard that is ready to contribute, then
Cooney is your guy. This past season, he led his team to the Delaware State
Championship.
Now with another season to mature more, Cooney will be ready to
contribute a lot to the Syracuse program.
Cooney reminds me a lot of Andy Rautins. He is equipped with a
deep shot and the ability to drive the lane and finish. However, Cooney is more
explosive.
The 6-foot-4 guard could play point guard and should! He has great
handle, leadership and the ability to control the game.
Considering
G Tony Wroten Jr
Yesterday, Wroten Jr. tweeted
his list. Syracuse wasn't named.
G Tyler Harris
Harris recruitment is wide-open. However, one thing is evident; he
doesn't want to follow the footsteps of his brother Tobias Harris.
G Derrick Williams
Syracuse offered Williams but his recruitment is still wide-open.
F Mikael Hopkins
Recruitment is wide-open. But the leader is West Virginia.
*F Lebryan Nash
Nash listed his top five college choices. Syracuse was named
within them.
*F Anthony Davis
Davis kicked UNC out his recruiting but kept Syracuse in the hunt
of his services.
*F LaQuinton Ross
Ross has been recruited hard by Syracuse for a while now. He has
them in his top schools as a result.
C Norvel Pelle
Not clear where Pelle could land. He was astounded by the St. Johns
offer. But Syracuse is still in the picture.
