Fabricio Melo, the 7-foot Brazilian "cant-miss" prospect coming out of high school, chose Syracuse University for his academic and basketball career.
Melo, a former Mickey D's All-American, was under the radar for most of his freshman season after starting 24 games and averaging just 2.3 points and 1.9 rebounds per game.
His under the radar off-the-court issues are starting to surface, however, after his girlfriend, a student at SUNY Upstate, told authorities about their "volatile relationship."
Melo, was in court Wednesday June 1st 2011 on charges of criminal mischief after being accused of taking off the turn signal in his girlfriends car.
The girlfriend reported four or five different physical altercations with Melo since they began dating.
The latest altercation occurred after Melo became jealous of a phone call from another male to his girlfriend as well as comments on Facebook. Melo is set to return back to court June 14th.
