Former UIC coach Jimmy Collins retired opening the door for the coaching search, one that included many assistant coaches at some of the top programs in the nation.
Howard Moore, a Chicago man himself, has both played and coached in the city. A Chicago high school prospect, Moore moved onto continue his playing career at Wisconsin before gigs as an assistant coach at Ball State, Loyola Chicago, Bradley, and the University of Chicago.
Moore became part of Bo Ryan's staff at Wisconsin in 2005, and now gets his own opportunity in what will be his first Division I head coaching position. Being both a player and coach in the Chicago area, Moore has been able to establish many connections throughout his lifetime.
