Ricardo Ledo Ruled Partial Qualifier

Ricardo Ledo, the No. 6 ranked player in the class of 2012 by Rivals, committed to play for Providence College and head coach Ed Cooley.

The Jordan Brand Classic alum added a dynamic 6-6 shooting guard to pair with McDonald's All American point guard Kris Dunn.

In a span of a few months, things changed.

Dunn went down with an injury and freshman Ledo was ruled ineligibile to play in games this year with Providence but is allowed to practice. The ruling came down today and was first reported by the Providence Journal.

Keno Davis and the Providence Friars have lost two previously committed guards this summer.

Joseph Young and Naddir Tharpe are both combo guards who were set to begin their collegiate careers at Providence.

Young, a member of the class of 2010, asked Davis were his release, but was denied. Young enrolled at Houston last week and is prepared to sit out the entire season. Young will begin his playing career with Houston in 2011-2012 with three years of eligibility remaining.

Tharpe, on the other hand, committed to the Friars, but re-opened his recruitment. The Worcester, Massachusetts native is set to take official visits to both Rutgers and Minnesota. He is considered one of the top guards in the class of 2011 and is now considering a long list of schools once again.

However, Keno Davis has seemed to have moved on. The former Drake head coach, received a commitment from 6-foot-5 Joshua Fortune.

Fortune can shoot the three ball and is considered a very talented swing forward. The Virginia native is a strong defender and should give the Friars a solid boost in 2012.

Rated as the 31st best small forward in the class of 2012, the verbal commitment of Josh Fortune is a key step for Davis and Providence, as they attempt to move forward. The Friars have not made the NCAA Tournament since 2004.

Joseph Young Denied Appeal

Heading into next season, the Providence Friars was poised to be the next Butler or George Mason of College Basketball. There 2010 class would solidify them as players in a tough Big East conference. They presented on a top five recruiting class that featured two shooting guards that could score in bunches.

Gerald Coleman the 6-foot-4 shooting guard was expected to jump right in and crack the starting lineup. As for Joseph Young, that could have been his backcourt mate.

Young has one of the most reliable three-point jumpers that could have been on display at Providence. He excels without the ball making cuts, and running off-screens to free himself up for jump shots.

That is the player the Friars were getting with Young. However, they will not see him on the court one game as a true freshman.

The 6-foot-2 shooting guard wants to be released from his letter of intent from Providence to stay close to his ill family member. According to reports today, Young was denied the appeal.

Nonetheless, his father did state that his son would not be attending the University of Providence.

By NCAA rules, Young will have to sit out this upcoming year of College Basketball. He will lose a year of eligibility but could also transfer close to Houston, Texas. His father is currently the director of basketball operations at the University of Houston.

A scholarship was just freed-up by released guard Fabyon Harris, and Young to Houston does make sense.
