Of the last five McDonald's All American MVP's, all but one went in the lottery within the top four picks (Tyreke Evans, Kevin Durant, Michael Beasley and Derrick Favors) except for Chase Budinger.
Muhammad was 10-of-18 from the floor and added six rebounds in 22 minutes of action to lead the West team to a 106-102 victory. Muhammad was the dominant player from start to finish and did just about everything you expected him to do.
He also mentioned during the festivals that Duke, Kentucky and UCLA are in a playing field of their own with UNLV and Kansas trailing for his services.
His teammate Cameron Ridley, a Texas verbal commit, played extremely well coming one rebound away from the only double-double in the game. He had 12 points on 5-of-10 shooting and added nine rebounds in just 17 minutes of play.
Duke commit Rasheed Sulaimon proved his worth and is looking like a solid replacement for NBA bound Austin Rivers. He finished with 18 points and four assist, while shooting 50-percent from three-point range.
Kentucky commit Archie Goodwin chipped in 14 points and three rebounds, while Baylor commit Isaiah Austin added 10 points, eight rebounds and three blocks.
Point guards Marcus Paige and Kevin "Yogi" Ferrell both dished out a combined 15 assist to one turnover. Neither guard shot the ball well but both managed the game and found their open teammates for baskets.
For the East, Kentucky bound Alex Poythress led the way scoring 19 points on 8-of-12 shooting before fouling out in 19 minutes. He certainly took charge for his team and really impressed a lot of doubters.
North Carolina State bound Rodney Purvis had a big game for the East chipping in 15 points, three assist and two steals. He helped lead the charge for the East to get back into the game and even had an and-one foul late before the West managed to take the game away in the final seconds.
His future teammate and Brewster standout, TJ Warren also contributed big for the East scoring 10 points and adding five rebounds in 16 minutes.
Tony Parker, who's still undecided, was in double-figures for the East putting in 10 points to go along with seven rebounds and two blocks.
But the player who ran the show for the East was UCLA commit Kyke Anderson. The 6-9 point guard, who's currently No. 4 in ESPNU's top 100, finished with a near triple-double. Anderson showcased his playmaking ability and really played well despite not shooting the ball that well. He finished with 13 points, eight assist, eight rebounds and four steals in 24 minutes of play.
Anderson clearly proved he was a playmaker effecting the game in many areas, which is why I agree with the statement Kevin Durant made about Anderson being the best player in his class.
Overall, the McDonald's All American game was a great event and very entertaining. A lot of dunks, star power and competitiveness. It was a fun game to watch and each of the players representing both teams played well and with passion. These 24 players were the best in the country over the past four years and came to Chicago to put on a show.
